The Greenhouse restaurant in Gig Harbor is a favorite Friday night date spot for my boyfriend and I. Many still think that its Sip but rest assured that is not the case! The food is EXCELLENT and the service is top notch. I have ordered the NY Steak Sandwich for lunch a handful of times and it is always perfectly cooked, tender enough to cut with a fork and the flavor is to die for. The butter basted scallops are cooked to perfection and the steaks are always properly prepared. As someone who is extremely picky about my steak I will say that for the price, this is the first restaurant in the Seattle area that has prepared a NY steak properly, SO tender and amazing flavor. Its all organic and most of the ingredients are local as well! The warm blackberry pie ala mode and creme brulee are the perfect way to end a meal with a glass of wine and that special someone.

People are being too hard on this restaurant. I have eaten here multiple times and have been nothing but impressed with the high quality food i receive. You have to remember how much more it costs to purchase grass fed beef and free range pigs or something like that. I'm glad they choose a midpoint between total crap meat and the highest organic quality. If they did have all organic pesticide free meats, you would be paying Much more for an entree, which most people that review here think are already overpriced. Just try and imagine how much it is going to cost for something like that for the customer as well as the owner. I have watched this restaurant lose some of its staff as well as add a few new additions. They are working on creating a perfect team it seems, and I'm sure they will get there soon. You have to remember that this restaurant is NEW. It takes time to adapt to a new environment as well as learn all the aspects of it. Overall, not enough good is said about this restaurant. The only people reviewing are snobby wannabe critics. This restaurant makes almost everything fresh and in house. The quality is much higher than any other restaurant with similar price range. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

My family & I were excited to try this restaurant, and after trying it we're excited about not going back. It's got great intention, but fails at executing it. Everything about it seems to be trying too hard to be fancy. The staff is nice, but service was extremely slow. The wait was about an hour, but it seems they only seat half of the tables in the place at a time. I don't know if it's because they don't have enough staff or if it's trying to promote exclusivity. Either way, I didn't like waiting an hour when it was half full. The food definitely wasn't worth the wait. The only good thing we had at the whole table was the plain spaghetti, the marinara sauce is pretty good. However, the salmon & veggies & pasta in a butter sauce were not good. We even asked for butter on the side for the salmon & somehow that direction was missed & everything on the plate was drowning in butter. Nice ambiance, friendly staff, but bad, overpriced food.

I read most of the other reviews with one and two stars. Where are you folks eating? Do you own the other Gig Harbor restaurants that need to follow the example Green House is setting? I have dined around the country and around the world and I am quite a food snob. I have eaten here 2x already and I am going again tonight. I had one of the best pork tenderloin's and one of the best beef short rib of any I can remember. Appetizers (I have pleasingly tried them all). Drinks were made well for a new opener. Complete wine list. The prices were very good considering the quality of the food. I am looking forward to them finding a better local butcher and hopefully some grass fed, organic selections. All in all very happy to have this in the Harbor and hope some other establishments up their game. This is now in my top five (maybe even top 3) in a 25 mile radius.

Snobby service, mediocre overpriced food, decent drink menu. Great concept & nice patio, poor execution.

I have been to this restaurant twice and I really like the food however the service was terrible and the slowest sitting I have ever had for dinner. I ordered the Ribeye and for $27 I think it is a great deal compared to what you would spend at El Gaucho or The Met type restaurants. I have never seen such slow service as we were there for over an hour and a half and that was only shortened because I had to tell the waiter twice that we had to go. We even missed our movie because of it. They messed up my wife's order and I over heard the table next to us also got the wrong food and they forgot their drinks. The management and ownership should be embarrassed that a nice restaurant like this in a great location is getting this bad or reviews on Yelp. Ive only been there twice and the service was terrible both times with different waiter and waitress. Get it together or clean house with your wait staff.

I'm not sure what has happened to this restaurant since I last visited a few years back. Our server seemed curt with us to begin with. We ordered clams, pate and soup to begin with. Pate and soup were fine but clams were not the best I've had. It started when my beet salad was delivered.I noticed a sloppy presentation of spinach leaves and then the worst, the beets. They looked like they came out of a can and were sliced and stacked on the plate. If you advertise beet salad I expect them to be cut in quarters and presented a little better. At that point I knew it was downhill. Our entrees arrived and the cheeseburger was nothing to write home about. I ordered the roasted chicken dish and I must say I get more flavor from the chicken I grill at home. The pasta it sat on was bland and lacked salt. I expect chicken to be juicy and not stringy!! At this point I just wanted to get the bill and get the heck out of there but my husband wanted dessert. I passed on the banana beignets and they looked cooked from the outside but by hubby says they tasted raw. I'm done with this place! It's a shame because I came twice before and loved it.

I noticed the comments were when the restaurant first opened. I finally tried it yesterday and it was awesome! I eat out every week and can't believe I finally made it to this restaurant. I loved my New York Strip Steak. It was incredibly flavorful and tender. I had garlic mashed potatoes with it and then we had the Creme Brulee. You have a true fan here. One that is very critical about what and where I eat. The restaurant was very busy, a good sign that people like it.

We like to eat. We travel to eat. We understand good food and service. We tip generously. We're not cranks. We are, however, sick of $100-a-couple restaurants that don't deliver the goods. The very first thing this place should do is put hats on the two less-than-impeccable young men in the open kitchen. We had been to "Sip" a couple of times and were underwhelmed. This is the same place. A couple of days before our visit The News Tribune did a feature story on Green House. Thought we'd give it a shot. My crab cakes were actually breadcrumb cakes; taste and texture of crabmeat virtually non-existent. Our server, a competent, attentive woman, asked whether I was enjoying them. I politely gave my honest opinion. She was surprised, she said, because the kitchen prided itself on the quantity of crab used. I pointed out the TNT reviewer found the same problem. She had no idea. How does a restaurant, having just been reviewed, not address such a basic problem? Especially with crabmeat being as inexpensive as it is in our area. It's $17/ lb. at Costco! My "mahogany chicken" was dramatically overcooked, dry as sand and tasted of nothing more than a bit of charred soy sauce. The "fruited rice" was less than nondescript. A shrimp dish at our table was dressed with an over-salted, over-sugared, cloying sauce though the shrimp themselves were cooked perfectly. All the dishes were very attractively plated, however. The service we received was attentive and friendly without being overdone. No complaints there. However, I'd suggest that if the young man helping our server deliver food to the table ( a "commis" in the old style of dining room hierarchy) can't speak his native tongue, English, any better than "The rest of you guys-es food will be right here", he should probably remain silent and just put the food down.

I have found that a good way to judge a resteraunt is on the quality of the kid's meals. Our little family of four has gone to really "nice" restaurants, and recieved Kraft macaroni and cheese for the kids for $8. Seriously? So with that as a measuring stick, The Green House is one of the best resteraunts we have been to. The mac and cheese was out of this world: fresh noodles cooked perfectly aldente, smothered with decadent and savory butter/cheese sauce. I actually encouraged my daughter to eat more from the bread basket because I wanted to save her mac+cheese to take home and enjoy again. My son got the chicken strips. The meat itself was juicy and flavorful. The panko breadcrumbs were crispy, but not heavily seasoned with salt. They paired perfectly with the accompanying ranch dip. As for the adult meals, everything was fresh, delicious, and artfully presented. I got the cajun snapper with polenta (spicy and sweet, a wonderful pairing), and my husband got the sirloin. He can be a pretty snobby eater, and he surprised me by saying that he thought his steak dinner could stand up next to El Gaucho! The atmosphere was really nice. Lots of natural light coming in from the huge windows. It wasn't noisey, but not so quiet that you can hear the people next to you talking. Service was friendly and mostly fast. It started to get busy near the end of our visit, and the server got a little bogged down. I noticed him remembering the names of other customers who had visited recently - a nice touch. We were the only ones there with kids, but they didn't seem out of place or a disturbance to the overall ambience. With our 2 adult meals, 2 kids meals, and 2 glasses of wine, we got out around $70. Pretty pricey, but worth every penny. The only negative for me was the bread basket was just standard white bread which had been totally squished by whoever sliced it.

I would agree with the first review -1. The staff is not well trained, and it is just awkward having one cook behind a bar in the middle of the restaurant cooking a quarter of the dishes on the menu. He did not seem happy. The food, Two house salads with wilted and a few slimy leaves, bland blue cheese dressing on the side with some what seemed to be marinated baby tomatoes that were edible. The greens went uneaten for the most part. The bread served is like any Safeway brand prebaked flavorless batard. As the waitress took my salad plate away she extracted the fork covered with dressing and put it down in front of me, telling me I would need it! The timing of the arrival of the different main dishes was weird. about 20 minutes till we all had a plat in front of us at the same time... Chicken Picata, on pre-cooked pasta blanched before plating. Not quite al dente. The chicken itself was drowning in capers, the whole mix gave it a salty and sour taste. Not a historically difficult dish, if you have a plan. My Wife had a steak salad that was ok. nothing to write home about. The one thing that I was watching being made was a risotto, that looked ok . Not sure if we will be back. We are consistently disappointed when trying out new restaurants in this area. not much has change over the last decade, Oh well, you can always drive to the big city!

Went back here after it changed owners -- initially I wrote an extremely bad review because everything was bad--NOW after three excellent meals I love it here! The beef appetizers were excellent so was service-- took friends there after the film festival and they loved the food too-- it is a bit pricey but Very Good!

Not sure why it says "street parking" on the description - it's in a shopping center with a pretty good sized parking lot. A small restaurant, I kept seeing their ad at the movie theatre nearby and once I finally figured out where it was I decided to try it out. I've been here three times - once for lunch, twice for dinner. Both times I went early (11 for lunch and 4:30 for dinner) so they weren't crowded. Therefore, service was pretty good both times. For lunch I had the brie and ham sandwich with a cup of their daily red pepper and basil soup - both were delicious. I had a piece of their peppermint ice cream cake for dessert and it was good too except for the whipped cream which was frozen and tasted oily or something. I was a bit disappointed in dinner, however. The first time I had the ribeye - the meat was good and perfectly cooked and marbled but I wish I'd known it came with a sauce. The sauce tasted like run-of-the-mill teriyaki and added nothing to the meat. The roasted potatoes had too much pepper on them for me (but I'm very sensitive to spices of any kind so this probably wouldn't apply to normal people with normal spice tolerance). The broccoli (daily vegetable) was burned - no, not grilled a little to enhance flavor but BURNED. There was absolutely nothing magical about the "magic mushrooms". So, the second time I went I ordered the lamb, which was delicious - also came with a sauce but this one was pretty good. The mashed potatoes tasted good but were a bit dry for my taste (I like them creamier) and AGAIN the broccoli was BURNED. I've also ordered their cheese appetizer - it's good, just a selection of different cheeses. Bread basket is standard - a grain bread and white with butter. Not sure I would go back for dinner, but I'll definitely give it a try again for lunch. So, I give it three stars between the service, the good lunch and the meat.

Slow service, no ambiance, some background music would do well instead of the industrial overhead fan. It's pretty pricy for food and drinks. And it always seems to be cold in here. I've been here a few times and it's always by default, waiting for a movie or something. It could be great but, unfortunately, it isn't. The food is pretty good but everything else is subpar. Bottom line, it's a disappointment.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at the Green House. The food was fresh, the sous chef's were fun to watch, and the service was pretty good. I think that people need to give this place a second chance for real. I would like to give it a better rating if it were not for the delay between our appetizer and entree. Other than that, it was a fun friendly place. We will be going back. Let's face it, Gig Harbor is lacking in restaurants, especially quality restaurants. The Green House atmosphere is upbeat, family friendly, and not terribly overpriced. Some of the naive reviewers here don't understand the sous chef concept, let alone having to watch them prepare appetizers and garnishments. Our entrees included: Lobster Ravioli appetizer, Chicken Picatta, and Steak Tenderloins.

The food is absolutely delicious! The clam chowder is to die for. Highly desirable place to eat.

The food at The Green House was really quite good (we ate lunch). The service was totally lacking. We each ordered a cup of soup and a salad. I thought I saw the chef in the front of the house ladling up our soups, but, when several minutes went by and they didn't arrive at our table, I figured I was mistaken. Wrong. They were delivered to our table--by someone other than our waiter--roughly 30 seconds before the waiter brought out our salads. My partner's clam chowder actually had a skin on the top from sitting so long. I would have liked dessert, but the waiter never once returned to our table after he brought those salads. He finally showed up when he saw the credit card lying on the table. That was when he decided I needed more iced tea. By then I was drinking my partner's. Good food isn't that hard to find in Gig Harbor, so we'll go elsewhere next time we want a nice lunch.

Dined at the Greenhouse for dinner recently for the first time and was very happily impressed. The food was amazing, the service was perfect, and the ambiance was spot on. It was almost too good to be true - this place is my new favorite in Gig Harbor.

Eaten here three or four times, always with excellent food (such as the Ahi, which must be absolutely fresh and perfectly prepared to be optimal) and excellent service. Parking is close and the atmosphere good. Recommended.

Relaxing welcoming décor and layout. Good service. Delicious Club sandwich with cream cheese, well-balanced and incredibly fresh tasting; roasted beet salad had perfect flavors and textures that worked well off each other.

Ive had many a glass of wine at the Greenhouse but this past weekend I had dinner there. Why have I not been living at this place? I have always been warmly welcomed so that wasnt a new experience for me but I have to say the scallops were to die for and my companion loved his filet mignon. For dessert we shared the chocolate truffle tort... I think thats what it was called at least and yummy! The service was really attentive and we werent rushed out just because it was a busy weekend night like some of the other places here in the Harbor. Im so glad they are part of our community now!

My husband and enjoyed our first dining experrience at Green House last night, celebrating two birthdays with another couple. Overall we all enjoyed our dinners. . .and will certainly return. We enjoyed Seared Rockfish. . .very tasty, although the fingerling potatoes were just average. The Flatiron Steak was perfectly cooked. . .the garlic mashed potatoes rated only 2 or 3 stars. The Veal Marsala was the largest serving, by far, and very tasty. The Scallops were quite tasty, but with only 3 on the plate, a bit pricey for the size of the serving! The server was very pleasant and helpful. We did mention that we were celebrating two birthdays and received two desserts of our choice, courtesy of Green House. I do think that the bread could be upgraded a bit. . .with so many artisan type breads available I was disappointed in the rather plain soft, white baguette in the basket!! The atmosphere is very pleasant. . .casual and upscale at the same time!! We will definitely return to try other dishes. This is a wonderful additon to the Gig Harbor restaurant scene.

We ate here for the first time tonight. The food was good and fresh but not a "wow". The servers were somewhat helpful but not very friendly. The food was also pretty expensive. For three people we had two entree's, one salad, two glasses of wine, two pops and one very small hors d'oevres and it came to almost ninety dollars. The pop was flat so we brought it to the attention of the waiter. He said they had a problem with the bar fountain and he would get us fresh glasses from the back. The new glasses of pop were still flat and the waiter didn't have anything to say about it. It is a very new restaurant so we will check back in a while and see if it has improved.

Every star is warranted! This place has fresh ingredients, creativity, and wonderful people combined! We started out with wonderful craft beer and cider. Then fresh clam chowder that was super creamy. The dungeones crab cakes were divine. Then we moved on to some great meals. The seafood salad had prawns, bay scallops and other seafood on a bed of spinach. It was wonderful and fresh. The Halibut special was encrusted with Parmesan and dressed with a wonderful sauce. The pesto potatoes topped off the wonderful dish. The flourless chocolate torte topped off this meal incredibly!

The service was nice but we're accustomed to receiving WAAAAAAAAY better food quality at this price point in Seattle. The ahi tuna stack was the best dish of the night but the portion size was too small for the price. It was over-salted due to an excess of soy sauce but the flavors were solid. It was weird that they also included an additional 1/2 cup of soy sauce on the side, nobody could possibly use anywhere near that much with a dish this small so it felt wasteful and makes it seem like they are not at all familiar with asian/Hawaiian cuisine. The chips should be served separately from the ahi & guac so they don't get soggy. Tommy Bahama, of all places, serves a better ahi poke & guac dish at half the price. Here's the recipe: tommybahama.com/live-the… The cauliflower & cheese appetizer badly needed salt, it tasted like plain roasted cauliflower and melted cheese. I don't understand how this receives rave reviews on Yelp. I was dipping it in soy sauce, from the ahi tuna stack, to add some sodium to bring out some flavor. The clam chowder was bland and disappointing. We ordered the cioppino, a dish that I order every now and then in Italian restaurants. It's basically an American riff on an Italian seafood stew. It tasted like unseasoned seafood in unseasoned plain tomato sauce - worst cioppino I've ever had. It's too bad because the seafood was plentiful but the lack of seasoning was _unforgivable_. The server was nice and offered to take it off the bill when she noticed we didn't eat it and didn't want to take the leftovers home. We tipped very generously because we felt bad for the server but the kitchen should never have sent this garbage food out. Everything was under-seasoned or over-seasoned. Does anyone in the kitchen taste dishes before they go out? The large menu should be pared down to a few dishes that they can actually deliver on. This was the most overpriced meal I've paid for in a long time, the food was borderline inedible. FAIL Morso is still the only place I've found to offer decent food in Gig Harbor.

Very recently we were part of a large group dinner at the Greenhouse Restaurant in Gig Harbor. It was very good but a little hard to find with either Siri or Google-map. Because of the large group .. 40 plus with small kids .. we had a limited number of entries to choose from so we didn't get to try the whole menu. The wait staff was very attentive and got to everyone in a timely manner. The food and drinks got out to almost everyone hot and fast! Not a big fan of the clam chowder and the well drinks were on the expensive side! But all in all we had a very good meal and great service for such a large group!

My girlfriend and I went to the Greenhouse in Gig Harbor on 8/24/2015 for our first time:) We have heard some recent raves about this place from other fellow friends/residents we know in Gig Harbor so it was time to check out the twilight menu as it offers a pretty good value (before 6pm ) I had the Pork Chop and my girlfriend had the flat iron steak .My expectations were pretty high and they delivered on all ends ! Food was amazing !-Jody our server was as good as it gets and we will definitely be heading back as often as possible to taste more items on the menu. The twilight menu had most items under 20.00 and include a choice of soup or salad and desert .The garden salad was the best i have ever tasted ! seriously amazing variety and flavors you HAVE to try this . I don't often give 5 stars on yelp reviews as I am a pretty hard critic but this time its well deserved ! KUDOS GREENHOUSE ! you have an AMAZING CHEF!!!! see you soon ..Peter & Cindy

A mellow, friendly restaurant with an assured NW menu. The happy hour menu, especially a mondo burger, is a good value, emphatically better than most snack-heavy happy hours. Strong service -- Cynthia is always friendly and professional. No concepts, no head-pounding music, no silliness -- just good food creatively executed. Consistently excellent.

This place is absolutely fantastic. I went in here for the first time last night with a buddy because we heard they had great steaks..and boy-oh-boy do they ever! We both had the rib eye cooked at medium rare. It was perfect when it came out (it's really hard for restaurants to get a good medium rare/rare)! The steaks came with whipped russet potatoes and steam broccoli and seasoned mushrooms. They served hot, fresh bread with butter while we were waiting for the steaks. Our server Kim was prompt, fantastic, and knew the menu inside and out. I'll definitely be coming back here!

I was driving around Gig Harbor last weekend and randomly chose to stop and try this restaurant out. What a pleasant surprise! I had a glass of Syrah and the calamari. First I want to say how delicious the calamari was. They even served it with tentacles, which is my favorite. My boyfriend had a mojito and the BLTA. He ate the entire thing and loved every bite of it. The service was fantastic and we will definitely be back.

My husband & I recently decided to celebrate our anniversary at The Greenhouse. Having just moved to this neighborhood, it was convenient & the atmosphere is very nice. Both of us are fillet fans but the $45(!) price tag was a bit much so we went with the ribeye... $36. Both of us were supremely disappointed in the meal. Steaks were ordered medium rare... very rare (they did offer to take them back & grill them some more). But the quality of the meat was just plain awful. SO tough! The mashed potatoes were gooey & just barely warm. On a positive note the wedge salad was fantastic... wish I had stopped there. My dog was happy that she got a doggie bag that was REALLY for her :-) We may try again but will limit ourselves to drinks & appetizers from now on.

Came here for lunch the other day. I had the vegetarian pasta primavera. It was good. The pasta had a ton of vegetables and the portion was a good size. I would definitely order that again. The restaurant inside was really nice. I felt like the prices were a little on the high side, but it is Gig Harbor. Overall, a good lunch spot.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Harbor. The ahi stack is devine. There are many options and many are healthy and delicious. Whether you choose an appetizer, salad, sandwich or main course you will not be satisfied.

Tasty, casual date spot. I've always had really good, friendly service. The food is tasty, and ambiance is really comfortable and understated. I've even sat at the bar tables for a meal and long evening and the service was fantastic. Like everywhere in Gig Harbor, though, it does seem to clear out early :)

Beautiful establishment. Crab dip contained more cheese than dip - never saw one piece of crab meat in the whole dish. Wine and beer good. Food was average and prices were extremely high for average food. Ordered was: coconut prawns, lobster risotto, scallops and bacon, beef burgundy. Scallops were very raw in middle - even when ordering was asked to make sure they were cooked all the way thru. The beef dish wasn't seasoned correctly, potatoes were very plain with no butter or seasoning. Gad to ask for salt and pepper. Biggest plus was the theatre closeness which was the main reason we were there. Average entree price was like $32. Probably won't be back unless we go for the sunset dinners for from 4 to 6 MON - Thur.

Great location for drinks and dinner before a movie in Gig Harbor. The drinks were very good and the atmosphere was nice. The service was friendly and fast. The food though, was just not so good. We started with the ahi tuna app and it was delicious. The fish was fresh. Then we shared a cup of white chowder, there was still sand grit in the clams, and then I had the cioppino. The cioppino had lots of fish and clams but was overcooked and the sauce was like spaghetti sauce. Yuck. My husband had the beef special and it was full of fat and under seasoned. We will go for apps and cocktails but we will not spend $100+ on gritty chowder, spaghetti sauce soup, and fatty unseasoned beef. Too bad. We wanted to make this a staple in our date night rotation.

I just have to write again about this restaurant. It has new owners since my previous review, and, it has happily changed 100% for the better! I do believe this is the very best deal in town if you go before 6:00pm and after 8:00pm for their Happy Hour. If you order the hamburger, prepare to say WOW when it arrives. $7 for a huge, amazing, juicy, rich, lovely burger with a mound of fries? How can they do it? Skip Blazing Onion, avoid all other burger joints and go here. I brought a friend recently, and after one bite of their burger she said she'd never cook a hamburger herself again--it was that good. Even their $4 Caesar salad is a bargain--enough for a meal in itself! If you need to go during the main menu time, the choices are excellent, and prices are affordable--or at least worth what is served. Between those menu items and the wine list, the Greenhouse Restaurant is now our favorite restaurant in town. Thank you to the new owners for creating a beautiful restaurant with delicious food right here in Gig Harbor. Regarding the staff, the owner/hostess couldn't be kinder, and the current staff is so nice. It is getting busier and busier there, though, so perhaps a few more helpful people to keep things moving? The last few times I've been there it has seemed a bit tense due to the greater number of people arriving. Oh, and if you have a tiny inch left for dessert, don't miss the warm bread pudding. OMG.

We really like this restaurant. We eat here often. This time my husband had the prawns, which were plentiful and delicious. I had the king salmon, which was a special item. It was good, but really salty. I've ordered mojitos before and haven't cared for them, so this time I ordered a Cosmo. Not that good either, so probably will order beer from now on. For dessert we wanted ice cream. For $5 you can have two little scoops of coconut ice cream or two scoops of lemon sorbet. I asked if we could have one of each and was told that the kitchen would not do that. I find that really odd. I know that they use to have the reputation as being inflexible, but I thought that was under previous ownership. The reputation still stands.

Great place for an intimate date night. Food quality and freshness is unmatched. Service is always on-point and extremely attentive. It's a good night when my sweetie suggests the Greenhouse for dinner.

Menu is thoughtful and fresh. Food is well prepared but inclined to heavy oil/butter. Atmosphere is well crafted and pleasant. Service was attentive, timely, and service oriented. Price-point a bit high. Great option amongst Burger Harbor, er, I mean Gig Harbor.

My husband and I frequently stop in for happy hour at the bar. Each time we visit, we have noticed that they are busier and busier...we have always had amazing service with delicious food. I recommend giving them a shot as the new owners have slowly transformed the restaurant into a comfortable, delicious, upper class place to eat in the Harbor.

Absolutely one of our favorite restaurants. Wonderful food, from their Ahi Stack to their BLTA with fried egg. Great steak salad, great appetizers. Great happy hour. Service outstanding. Ask for Matt or Kim. Environment very comfortable.

Ordered wine and an appetizer of crab dip - wine came out way after appetizer. Waitress was rude. Crab dip tasted like it was made with tuna fish. When we told the waitress she said" we don't even have tuna fish here, so deal with it" needless to say - we will not be back. Way over priced and low quality, Fooled us with your ambiance...but you need to work on your staff's customer service and food quality.

It's my understanding they are under new ownership. It's been a few years since I've eaten here so I thought I'd give it another try while waiting for a movie to start at Galaxy Theater. It was early, so I thought I'd order off of the Happy Hour menu and got the $7 half pound burger. My O my... for $7, heck for $10 this burger was out of this world! Why go to Blazing Onion when you have an amazing burger and fries a few steps away? I'll be back for happy hour! Service was okay, just okay, and the ambiance is decent. To the new owners... not bad, keep it up!

The atmosphere is quite and reserved. Most seating is for adults. Seating area for children is nice although outside would be nice for the hot weather we are having, for all those thinking about bringing children. Date night seems perfect though!! Service is prompt and the Sunday twilight dinner menu has a wonderful selection. The mixed drink I ordered was mixed great and the Italian beer selection was fun and unexpected. The bread that comes with the soup and salad is light and pairs well with Chef Fullers Clam Chowder. Definitely a great chowder. The soup and salad was at the table promptly. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and it is rich and delicious. The Cobb salad was very fulfilling and looked great. All in all the family dinner is a success. 5 stars all around. I can't wait to come back.

Every time I go, I like it more! Their Twilight menu has a great selection, and you can get a great three course meal for only $18! The drinks are what put our bill closer to $100, haha. But really, we've had a different waitress every time, and they were all courteous and efficient. I will say that my creme brulee didn't have all the garnishes that it shows in the picture, but that may be because we order from the Twilight menu. Been at least 3 times, and a good experience every time. It's one of my new favorite places in the harbor!

Came here for date night and then went to a movie across the street. Great service and nice atmosphere (small fireplace outside and a large one inside). The goat cheese appetizer was delicious! Fish was cooked perfect, and the crab cakes...wonderful!!!! The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was it was a little pricey. But we will defiantly go back on a special occasion

  • Joel P.

I give the goat cheese appetizer 5 stars, and it is highly recommended. Had the sea scallops dinner on a bed of bacon relish, served with fingerling potatoes and cauliflower. All were delicious. The waitress was very nice and hard working, even brought me a sample of a beer I was asking about without being prompted. All in all, a great experience. One tip: if you have a Passport card, use it. It's buy one dinner get a dinner free. Great deal.

I wish I could say that we enjoyed our food but we left before we could eat. Our waiter, I believe his name was Glenn was the snootiest waiter I've ever encountered. When my boyfriend decided to order his steak medium well, snooty waiter walked away rolling his eyes at one of the other waiters and made some sarcastic remark. He came back and tossed some bruscheta on the table in front of my bf. At this point I decided to leave. I informed the nice hostess and another waitress of his behavior and they apologized profusely but stated that he was "kept around" for the older crowd. I was really looking forward to trying their food.

We have found our favorite lunch restaurant in Gig Harbor. The food was fresh and seasoned well. They offer a well thought out menu that offers plenty of choices without being too overbearing. Our server was attentive and kept the timing perfect throughout our experience. We do not normally give 5 stars but it was so refreshing to find someplace like this that offers real dinning at an affordable price. The first thing we thought of when paying our bill was all of the horrible restaurants we have tried that charged us so much more. This is a must try for anyone who appreciates REAL food.

A friend of mine raved about this restaurant and for good reason. It's the day before I get my braces and I wanted to treat myself to a special meal. I ordered from the twilight menu which has 3 courses. Started with gazpacho, because I love it, maybe not a good paring but it was lovely. Main course was the molasses Porkchop with apple. Sides were fingerling potatoes and shredded Brussels sprouts. Omg! Everything was so delicious and cooked to perfection. The servings were huge! I even chewed the meat off the bone and left nothing but the bone on the plate! Soo soo good. Dessert well, I was full but since it was included I had the coconut almond icecream with chocolate chunks. So I'm in love with this place now. Maybe I can come a few times a month. It's expensive but worth every penny. The staff were lovely and attentive. I have kind of been missing the great Seattle restaurant scene, but now I have a place to go when I have guests in town of want to pamper myself. Not looking forward to my braces tomorrow but hopefully this night out will soften the blow.. Lol!

Wow, where do I start. At first, the server was very polite and I enjoyed it. Then as the night progressed, the service became worse to the point of them forgetting my drink, and turning my steak from medium to absolute rare. If you want mediocre service and a decent food. Come here.

Well... I just don't know what to say... It wasnt the worst food I have ever had but coupled with the arrogant jerk of a waiter we had, we won't go back. It was as if we were doing him a favor by being there. And... He was a chameleon- I overheard him talking to two tables near us and he was polite, considerate, and attentive. With our table, I was sure we had run over is dog or something. I ordered the Dungeness crab cakes which were mealy slices of lemon flavored medallions resting near a dreadful smear of something very close to a horseradish flavored thousand island dressing. There was a coconut rice square on the plate that was fabulous, however. The plates were thrown on the table as if there was a fire and no other check in about the food. I would have sent mine back and ordered something else... Painful meal to have to endure with out of town guests at the end of a long work day... Not money well spent. We had seen a write up on the place in a travel magazine and was enticed by that. I should have checked Yelp. I know better!

We met friends for dinner. We are all foodies. The service was great. Our glasses never ran dry and no dirty plates sat on the table. The spring green salad was a bit boring, but my friend loved the beet salad. The entrees were presented beautifully and the tasted amazing. I had the ahi tuna which was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back.

Perfection! It confuses me as to why I've read others complain about the prices, it's a higher end restaurant with higher quality food and wine selection, of course it's going to cost more than the tangle wood or the tides. I had the house Chardonnay , not sure what it was called, but definitely one of the better house wines I've had. Their happy hour menu is great, my friend forced me to try their deviled eggs, as I only like moms, and I loved them! Make sure to give them a try. The service was exactly what I would hope for. Prompt, but also gave me time to enjoy my food without being pestered every 5 minutes while I was eating. I saw the bartender get pretty busy, he was the only one behind the bar and pouring for the other servers tables, but still put a smile on his face when he refilled my wine. Basically, love this place . I know in the past year or so they got new owners, so if you we're rubbed the wrong way in the past, give it another try.

Eh. It was your typical date night place, right across the parking lot from the movie theater. We went there after a movie to catch a bit before heading home to the kids. The waiter was nice, but his response to everything we said was "thank you". Ok at first, but by the 8th thank you I was getting annoyed. We split the chicken Alfredo dish - good, but very, very rich. We took some home and when I reheated the next day there was a massive puddle of oil on the plate. Overpriced food and drinks, nice service, and waaaaay too much olive oil. Like I said ... eh. I've had better and I've had worse. We might go back if we're at the theater and hungry, but I suggest splitting a dish.

The Green.House is one of our favorite restaurants in Gig Harbor. The atmosphere is relaxing, the service is very friendly and accommodating, and the food is excellent! The menu has recently changed for the better. There are actually new owners, who have shown tremendous support for a community organization in which I am involved. We had an event there last night and I was impressed with the quality of food and service, even with a packed house. I recommend the clam chowder, spinach & roasted beet salad & crab cakes. Why would you go anywhere else if you're looking for quality food and gracious staff?

This was our first visit to the Greenhouse, and it won't be our last! As we are in the process of building our home in Gig Harbor, I had heard about the Greenhouse, and had it on my list of places to try. We came in for a late dinner, on a warm summer evening, and decided to sit out on th e patio, which has a wonderful relaxed ambiance. The space is nicely appointed with star jasmine around the pergola, planters of lavender and rosemary perfumed the air and set a relaxed tone to the outdoor seating area. The interior space is a nice large relaxed space, I would say there is something for everyone! Okay enough about the space now on to the food. Our service was exceptional!, everyone was spot on and very attentive. I'm a huge fan of Malbec wines, and our server brought me an exceptional one, and my partner had one of their signature drinks the Razzopolitan, again both spot on with these beverages, our server came back to check on us during our appetizers, he asked what I thought about the Malbec, and I gave him my opinion, he then also queried me on what I liked in this type of wine, he then informed me that they had a much heavier one, and brought me a small taste...well... I switched up to this one!! We started our evening with a couple of appetizers, the bruscetta with a apple currant blue cheese crumble on top, and the poutine, provided both a sweet and savory start to the evening! I am a huge fan of poutine and theirs was exceptional, my partner could not stop raving about the bruscetta. On to the main course - I had the crab ravioli with a grilled cayenne dusted prawn skewers, the creaminess of the sauce with the fresh crab, paired with the punchy prawns tingled the taste buds in a great way!! My partner chose the grilled pork chop with roasted fingerling potatoes on a bed of a sort of slaw. Now this is not your average slaw, but one that pairs exceptionally well with the intensity of the perfectly grilled chop, another rave! We capped the evening with the molten banana beignets, served with a warm rich caramel sauce and candied pecans and whip cream. This desert is a trip to New Orleans! If you could imagine having a light fluffy beignet from Cafe DuMond combined with the Bananas Fosters from the legendary Brennans...This is what you would have, light fluffy and richly decadent. My partner had the Lemon Budino, There was a right balance to the level sweet and sour of the lemon, paired with fresh bright raspberries and a whip cream that was heavenly. This is one desert that REQUIRES you to sink your spoon to the bottom of the ramekin, the budino had layers of lemon complexity in it. This would be an exceptional pairing with a nice glass of bubbly. It is places like the Greenhouse that make us smile, and excited to shortly call Gig Harbor our home!

Food was very bland, Stay away from the Cioppino. It tasted very fishy, and Salmon does not belong in a Cioppino, thats an insult to the originators of the Cioppino (The Old Clam House in SF). Good service nice ambience but disappointed with the food overall. Will not return.

Poor service. We had just sat down when he asked what we would like to drink. We had not had a chance to look at the drink menu. It took him 15 minutes to return. He seemed like he was annoyed that he had to serve us. Another server is the one who finally took our drink order and gave us our wine. I was not impressed with the wine. It was overpriced, and the selection was average. Service was slow for the rest of the night. Our food was fine. It wasn't spectacular. I will not return.

We went here after the Gig Harbor Beer Festival a couple weekends ago and it was awesome! I'm surprised by the other reviews on the service and the food. I had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly, the vegetables were just the right texture, and it came with a chutney style sauce that was just the right spicy sweet flavor. Our server was spot on and kept the drinks flowing. We sat on the patio, where we noted the flowers in the planter box were pretty. I had a great time and great experience here.

Wonderful food, service, bar menu, full menu, and cocktails. I especially enjoyed the grilled scallops. Not sure why this isn't rated higher. I've been a few times and have loved all of my experiences here. I highly recommend. Goes great with a movie.

  • Beach T.

I'm surprised by the low ratings. Seem the low ratings are on the service only, because the food I think from a number of visits is very good and reasonable cost. I will agree that once I read some of the reviews there is room for service improvement. At least no one has been rude or offensive. So nothing some attention to detail from the serve staff should be corrected. If it is about the FOOD then you really should give this place a try. Try the clams on the appetizer menu, salads are very good. And then make sure you try the peppercorn steak! The ambiance is different than most as far as layout is concerned. It's what I would call a open concept, has cooking station in the middle with a counter to sit around, an area with a fireplace with tables, a smaller bar area, an area to the side. In the winter small bar tables next to the windows. And it looks like some window area may open up to a patio area in the warmer months... I also find it to be not a loud place. So you can have a conversation... not loud like so many places these days... I recommend giving this locally owned, locally bought food, except special ordered mid- West meat....a try.

Ordered a Veggie Sandwich to go. YUMMO! I'm in love with the Alkai Bakery wheat bread and the fries were fresh and super hot :). The atmosphere looked pleasant and the woman who took my order was professional and sweet. Next time I'll dine in :)

Great Food and that goes a long way but, they would have been an easy 5 star if the service was better. We went on Fathers Day and I get they were busy but, they had a controlled rush with reservations and people were coming and going so, if staffed properly, it would have been a better experience. I WILL GO BACK and really liked the relaxed pace of the meal.

Attentive Service. Greeted us with an open front door and seated promptly, 430 on a friday evening. the place was packed by 6pm. reservations advised. Calamari was good. Wine list ok. Reasonable pricing. Wife loved the Rasmopolitan. wife said salmon was best she's had in a long time . Short rib was okay, a little bit too fatty, somewhat on the bland side but not bad at all . Unusual bathroom. Would go again for sure.

I went to Green.House soon after it opened and did not enjoy it at all. We were disappointed and have never been interested in going back. I went in there recently because the restaurant is supporting a charity with which I'm involved. It was SO GREAT and I was pleasantly surprised by a changed/upgraded ambience, great food and wonderful service. I've been there several times since and am always suggesting it now! So great to have another great spot in Gig Harbor. Also, Gail, one of the new owners, is a joy!

I was nervous when the Greenhouse first opened up. It used to be called The Sip before it changed hands and my boyfriend and I really liked going there for wine and appetizers. But I shouldn't have been worried. Where the Sip failed, trying to be a chic trendy wine bar in little ol' Gig Harbor, The Greenhouse excels at being a nice restaurant with good food, good prices, and good service. The app station in the front of the restaurant used to be the old bar when it was The Sip. I like the idea of watching your appetizer being cooked right in front of you. Chef Robert is not only a wonderful chef but he goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. We don't go all of the time, maybe once every month or two, but he recognizes us and makes a point of coming out and saying hi. We usually sit at the same spot at the bar every time we go so we always get Kevin as our waiter. Great guy, very friendly. OK lets get to the food; The menu changes but the last time we went we started off with the roasted mushrooms with smokey blue cheese on garlic naan bread. It was kind of like a pizza and WOW it was good. I was seriously sad when the last piece was gone. (It was $8.00) My boyfriend always get the ribeye if they have it and they know he is picky about his steak. He likes it well marbled so they have to search for one he will like. They have even brought out a couple of steaks so he could pick the one he wanted. He says the steaks could be thicker but the taste is awesome. They come with "Magic Mushrooms" (that's what they call them) and I could make a meal of just those! (It was $24.00) I had the Herb Pesto Crusted Alaskan Cod with white wine butter sauce. Can I just say one word here? HEAVEN! It came over a bed of fruited wild rice. I wasn't sure if I was going to like raisins in my rice but I should have known it would be good. I am getting hungry just typing this up now! (It was $21.00) We didn't have dessert this time but every dessert we have had has been wonderful. I love their Creme Brulee! So if you want to take it from me and you are looking for a really nice date night kind of place that isn't too pricey you need to try The Greenhouse and tell Chef Robert I say "Hi".

My wife and I dined there for her birthday. Plenty of open tables and we were seated immediately. I started with the house cab. It was decent and a nice pour. Our appetizer was the crab beignet which had a beautiful presentation, however tasted a little greasy and there wasn't much crab flavor coming through. The other app was a Ahi stack which comes on some tasteless nacho like crackers (don't eat them) but the ahi was good with the soy and wasabi. For dinner my wife ordered the Scallops which I had considered. Turns out we both should have ordered them. She gave me a bite and they were absolutely delicious. The come in a bacon flavored sauce that is mouth watering. I had the steak salad which was really nothing more than a wedge salad with a petite sirloin on the side. It was good, but I regretted not getting the scallops so it probably was better than it seemed. Our waiter was attentive but he was a little pushy and short with us. It didn't seem like he had that many tables so I'm not sure why he seemed so preoccupied with moving and speaking quickly. Suffice it to say, it was a bit annoying. The girl who brought our food was more down to earth and relatable. She forgot to bring butter with our bread and when we asked for it she blushed, apologized, and then ran to get it. Now that's service. My wife said "She should be our waiter!" For dessert, they comped us the bread pudding since it was my wife's birthday. It was covered in a chocolate sauce with some candied cherries on top with whipped cream. It's been a while since I've had such a tasty dessert and it was greatly appreciated. The candle was a nice touch and it was the kind that keeps burning. It was funny and a very thoughtful touch. We've been here a half dozen times and they keep improving. One of the top spots in the Harbor. I'll give them 5 stars when the service equals the quality of the food. A good value for the money and I hope the improvements continue.

This a step up from Panera which is in the same complex. Inside you'll see a large open dining room with dark wood and stone (which reminds me a little of the Purple chain in Seattle, but not as fancy). Plenty of tables for large groups. There were about 5 to 7 occupied tables on this particular day for lunch. I thought about trying the pasta but opted for a black forest ham and brie sandwich on a hoagie type roll. Two pluses with the sandwich: the bread was good and the portions of ham were generous and in a thick layer. My boss ordered the steak salad which looked good. The club sandwich with homemade chips. Both looked pretty good. Pricey but good for a business lunch or if you want something a little less casual/bustling.

Decent concept but not suited for Gig Harbor. If you're going to try for a trendy, hip restaurant in this community you should probably know that the people that are going to book your tables on a busy Saturday night are the type to order, "the soup and a glass of red wine". That being said, I don't get to review much on here [Yelp guidelines] but my experience on a Saturday night could be summed up as: service deserves 2 stars for trying to appease me, nothing on the food and, -1 on a failed execution of the open kitchen concept. Overall: 1 star. I visited on a fully booked Saturday night and was seated immediately.. this was the most plesant part of my experience. The idea of an open kitchen is to display, to your guests, the organization and efficiency of your kitchen - not watch young cooks fumble around trying to plate dishes. Even today, I'm not sure who my actual server was; a cute younger girl took my order, an other server tried to take my order, I think the manager brought me my wine, a third server tried to offer me bread, a 4th marched my shrimp romesco around the entire restaurant proposing it to several tables that, apparently, wanted it more than I did at that point. I stopped keeping track at that point, but I'm pretty sure the host ran my credit card. If they've learned nothing from Sip, they are doomed to repeat their mistakes and destined to fail.

If you haven't been here lately..go back. New management has made dramatic improvements. First of all they honor their posted hours now, and actually welcome you close to closing time. The food is fabulous and interesting. The buttered crab over sweet corn ravioli is heaven on a plate. The service has also improved. They also offer happy hour and small bites, perfect for before and after A movie. We highly recommend the Greenhouse.

Wow...interesting this place has so many varied reviews. We had great service and great food. There were 4 of us and each ordered something different. We opened with calamari. GREAT calamari - best we've had in a long time. Some places say they make calamari but, it just ends up tasting like deep fried erasers....not this - texture was good and taste was good - very nice start. Quesadilla was good, flat iron steak was excellent, rib eye steak was perfect and the meatloaf was awesome. Wow...our server was great too - I believe her name was Megan...she was very good. All in all...good stuff. So, why not 5 stars?? I'm not sure, it was close. I just can't give away 5 stars too often. :) Oh...maybe it was the trendy facilities...a little too chic for me.

We were invited to join my folks for a late dinner at Green House and very much enjoyed the food, the place, and the wine! During the course of our meal we enjoyed three appetizers: the bacon wrapped shrimp, the crab cake, and the special ravioli. Each was flavorful and well executed. The bacon on the shrimp was thick and perfectly crisp. Our entrees included the filet, the short ribs, and two orders of the scallops. Delicious. The scallops were perfectly prepared, smooth and silky in texture and served with a burre blanc sauce that complimented the natural flavor without overwhelming it. The green beans provided a welcome crunch and the rice balanced out the savory with a mild sweetness. Sweet Husband had the short ribs and was overjoyed by their tenderness. No knife required, the meat was tender and juicy. The beef was accompanied by mashed new potatoes that were "just fine" according to the person who holds mashers to a standard most reserve for the steak. I didn't sample the steak, but my dad was ecstatic and there were no left overs. Green House has a full bar and a good wine list. We found one of our favorite Washington labels, Porteaus, and enjoyed it very much with our meal and our conversation. The service was quite nice and the server in particular was very pleasant. Unlike previous reviewers, we were always brought clean silverware with each course, and our glasses were never empty. We would gladly return to Green House.

We previously gave them a 4 star on yelp. Now, we are giving them a 0.5 star. Poor sevice and the food, menu selections and service has gone to the wasteside. No more magic mushrooms, sweet potato fries and good service means we will no longer eat here. New management and chef is the problem I am guessing....:-(
